I bought this adapter because I need it to transfer pictures from my sd card to my ipad, i decided to go with this 5 in 1 reader because of its price and good reviews. Everything its just simple, just connect the reader to the ipad and automaticaly recognizes the memory card and it gives you the option to select the ones you want to import. It really is a better buy than apple's branded reader because of its price and it can read multiple memory card formats and as an added value it has a usb port in case you want to connect your digital camera. Just received the item today, great shipping speed to southeast of the states . I verified it will work with iPad 2 with os 5.0.1, but iPhone 4s with 5.0.1 does not work.

Good for what it does, which is moving pics from sd card to iPad , I haven't test the USB feature.

Bottom line: It works just fine!

I just purchased iPad 3, and was skeptical of the 5in1 given all the bad reviews. When the reader arrived, I first tried it with an SD card, and the iPad responded very quickly. Then I tried the USB with three different connections: my external hard drive, digital camera and phone, and nothing happened. So, I hit the return button but before I printed out the return slip, read the most recent review (May 9th), and realized that there is a little on/off switch button on the side of the card reader. I decided to give it one last chance: turned it on, and connected my camera through the USB port. Voila! It works. Then my phone also responded. The external hard drive was very slow to respond.

All in all, I can testify that the USB and SD ports work. Why pay for the two-piece Apple kit when this works just fine (plus comes in one package!). (Posted on 8/22/12)

This item was exactly as it was shown and described. It does exactly what we bought it for, and All4Cellular by far, has the best prices. We use to be strictly Amazon shoppers, but in comparing prices we have almost completely moved to All4Cellular. Just got the adapter today and I am very pleased. It is fully functional and works as advertised! I was very skeptical to order it with all the bad reviews but decided to gamble with it's low price. For just under $5 this thing is amazing! I've tested it on my iPad 3 that is running iOS 5.1, and on my iPhone 4 with 5.0.1. It works great on both devices, just make sure the function switch is in the correct position else it will create an unsupported error or just not work. The product was shipped quick; this I am thankful for. As far as the product itself it works as described. I have an iPad 2 and I was skeptical that this device would work considering that this same one available from Apple was $30, but it worked. You must follow the instructions to setup: power off ipad, connect device (without any media chips in it), then power on the iPad. Once it powers up it will populated your images so you can then transfer to iPad. After my Apple SD card reader from my camera connection kit bit the dust, I started to seek out 3rd party alternatives to the overpriced Apple readers. I came across this one, and since it was so cheap (as compared to Apple's), I went ahead and purchased it. So far, so good. It's handled everything I've thrown at it to-date. Primarily, SD cards from trail-cams I use at our hunting lease. It's cheap, it works, and it can handle more formats that Apple's reader. It's good to go in my book. (Posted on 8/21/12)

This is a well made item, but it isn't going to work for me.
Seller will return full amount. Very good customer care and
kept in touch with me at least 10 times to help me make it
work, but it didn't. Tried the USB that didn't work, but as
I re-read the reviews, maybe the SD will work. iPad is not

Just as advertised! Much cheaper than the Apple version of the product, albeit not as pretty but for the price who cares. Works great on my iPad2 and iPad3. I have put this thing to a test. It performs. I have downloaded from a camera, iPhone, SD, Micro SD. But I can't download from a USB powered device such as another device that allows CF cards to be used. I have to transfer them from CF to SD in order to use it. Love this thing, but read the instructions listed in the Information. When I first plugged it in, it said my iPad said it didn't recognize it. After further research, there is a small toggle switch that needs to be pushed to the right for memory cards (left for USB). Then plug it into your iPad...MAGIC! Just hoping this helps others to avoid my initial confusion :-)

Definitely a good idea to read reviews here. The switch trick was essential and is not documented anywhere. Once you do that, this thing works perfectly. Why on earth pay $20 for the Apple version? I don't use this that often, but when I need to, it is there and works just fine! The plastic and construction is a little cheap, but then hey, is only cost you a few bucks to begin with! My kit didnt' come with any instructions. When I first used it (blindly) all it did was flash, but nothing else happened. Since I'd never used it before, I wasnt' even sure what to expect. Then I did some Google research and learned how to use it properly - and voila! It's a great little kizmo to look at and save a couple of quick pictures without having to hook up to my main computer. To be picky, the iPad connector is slightly crooked which looks a bit less than professional/craftsman-like, but it does NOT inhibit proper use or operation of the device. Otherwise, I couldn't ask for more. Does everything I need and much more, and at an excellent price point. Recommended.

Does what they say it will do, but it's cheap construction and comes without instructions - I had to go online to find out about the tiny switch on the bottom that changes the card medium. Also, it's not Apple-approved, so there are some issues with syncing it with the iPad, and if you have a lot of photos, it takes ages to load them and chances are high you'll time out before you get them all uploaded. "Free" shipping turned out to be a card from the post office saying $1.30 postage due. So I paid it to get the item which came with absolutely NO instructions - nothing in the envelope but the 5-in-1 Camera Connection Kit.

I thought it didn't work initially, but I saw the toggle switch and thought, what the hell, give it a try. That worked for the SD card. I had no idea what the other position was for until I read the reviews here; now I know.

So, to summary: came postage-due (not cool) and no instructions for an item that clearly needs them. Otherwise, it seems to work fine.

One final note: I have a silicone iPad cover (iPad 2) that will have to be trimmed to accommodate using the 5-in-1 Camera Connection Kit, or I'll have to remove it every time. Not the fault of the 5-in-1 Camera Connection Kit, but if you have a case that doesn't have a very wide opening for the 30-pin connection, keep that in mind. (Posted on 4/30/12)

Works!!! Great Price!!! Works with my 'new' iPad. Works for SD cards (did not check others). If you plug a USB keyboard in, iPad will give you an error message, but it will work as a keyboard.

**There's a little tab that needs to be flicked (left for usb port, right for the cards).
It's not supposed to, and unfortunately it does not work with the iPhone.

Received a defective kit that didn't recognize card reader even with the switch on, cable worked fine. Contacted customer service and exchanged for replacement kit. The replacement was from a slightly different manufacturer but both cable and card reader worked this time. Works pretty well recognizing connection when plugged in and transferring photos. The product is ok when it works properly. Using it with a 32gb card nearly full was a bit slow, which is to be expected. However, the importing process was rather strange on my particular unit as well. Each time I loaded a card I would have to flip the switch back and forth a few times before it would come up with the import screen.

Also note that if you have a case on the iPad (at least the leather iHome case) the device will not fit properly. iPad must be removed from the case entirely.

I have not tried this with an iPhone yet. Not sure I will ever need to use this item again anyway as it was strictly purchased for a one time event. The price is great for what it does. I would recommend it for small transfers. (Posted on 4/30/12)
