At the current list price for a new (?) model above $400, I don't think I'd be a taker...given that models like the Nexus 7 from Google running Jelly Bean are now avail for $199 for an 8 GB model and $249 for a 16 GB model.
That said, I have no regrets for my refurb purchase and am happy with the performance of my Element thus far. It arrived from A4C in a branded AT&T box and looked indistinguishable from a new model.
The water resistance feature of this model is nice. But what I really chose it for was the 16 GB of internal memory, the presence of an micro SD card slot, rated for up to 32 GB but what other users report will accept up to 64 GB, the ability to add a 3/4G SIM card (it actually takes micro SIM) and even a micro HDMI port. It even charges via a micro USB cable and port, meaning no bulky, proprietary AC adapters to carry around. And don't forget the included Wifi N and Bluetooth data capabilities.
Thus far, the unit's performance with Honeycomb has been snappy. AT&T/Pantech have promised an ICS OTA upgrade to the Element, but haven't said exactly when. The units have a built in OTA check feature under the settings menu.
A couple small niggles: if you read all the reviews out there re this model, you'll find other users complaining some about recurring forced app closures. I've had that problem with MS's Hotmail app, but when I replaced that app with a different one, the problems seemed to cease. That said, other users recommend doing regular power-off restarts to prevent such problems.
Also, my unit for some reason started up with the camera app not working at all. And I thought the cameras were broken. But I read up some. And found the answer. Had to do a one-time force quit on the camera app in the Settings/Applications menu, and ever since then, the cameras have worked fine. The image quality is just OK, not great, but I wasn't looking for great out of a tablet camera. BTW, the unit does work fine with Skype and most other VOIP type apps.
Lastly, unlike most of the cheap and often China made Android tablets, this Element has full access to the Google Play store for apps and comes with most of the main Google apps pre-installed (along with a group of ATT apps). The unit's box says they are made in Korea.
Like another reviewer said above, looking forward to the promised ICS OS upgrade, although I have no big complaints with Honeycomb on this tablet.

I use the HDMI out all the time to show off photos and even display HD video. It even played a bluray rip I put on it without slowing down! It has every input and output that I wish the Samsung Galaxy tab 8.9 had with more power, more durability and a better all round experience for the Honeycomb O.S.
I am astounded that this little guy has gone mostly overlooked in this market. If or when the Android 4.0 update comes, this may be my favorite tablet on the market under 400 dollars. I love the 4:3 aspect ratio for reading, and the viewing angles are top notch.
I will not be buying the iPad Mini when it comes out because of this tablet. It has been that good for me.

The Pantech element meet all of them. 8.9" , full access to google play, and front/rear camera w/flash. The price was excellent and the tablet came looking like it was brand new.
Still waiting on the ICS upgrade...hoping that will improve the slow start issue.

Good, responsive tablet if you can buy at +-$170 Review by Jaybird
Price Value Quality I bought a refurbished model of the Pantech Element here for $170 including shipping. At that price for this tablet, it's a great deal.

One of The Best I've Tried Review by DaFonz
Quality Value Price I have found this tablet to be shockingly good. Not just adequate. I googled the tech specs on the GPU after I bought it because it was significantly smoother than the Tegra 2 tablet I had used recently. This tablet has a significant amount of fire power, and runs the same resolution as the Ipad 2 in only an 8" screen. It has been benchmarked to exceed the Tegra 2 tablets out there. Go ahead and look it up. I was shocked too considering the Tegra 2 tablets are still far above this price point. Even the 7" ones are more than this Pantech device in most cases.
I use the HDMI out all the time to show off photos and even display HD video. It even played a bluray rip I put on it without slowing down! It has every input and output that I wish the Samsung Galaxy tab 8.9 had with more power, more durability and a better all round experience for the Honeycomb O.S.

Great Tablet for the price Review by tig
Quality Value Price I am coming off of an iPad 1 and didn't expect to like this as much as I did. My original purpose was just to have something small and light around the pool since it is water proof. Now I am actually thinking of getting rid of my iPad all together. I see why Apple is so popular, it works out of the box. But for someone like me who is a bit more of a techie, that becomes very limiting. After playing around with it, this does everything my iPad does and more, it just doesn't do it as "pretty" My movies are listed by file name instead of having a nice movie cover. Things like that. But it also has flash and a better overall web experience. And of course, there is a huge price difference! I could buy two of these for what I can still sell my iPad 64gig for. (Posted on 7/24/12)

Must buy value tablet Review by Steve
Quality Value Price I was shopping around for a tablet for my daughter who is constantly borrowing mine (HTC EVO View). Her requirements were: Rear camera (for videos), all of the apps, and bigger than a my Tablet for watching movies.
The Pantech element meet all of them. 8.9" , full access to google play, and front/rear camera w/flash. The price was excellent and the tablet came looking like it was brand new.

Great value, great performance Review by Vance
Quality Value Price Great little tablet. I have 2 faint hairline scratches on the back cover but otherwise it looks and feels mint. I only wish the ICS port would come soon. I haven't gotten it wet yet but I'm sure it'll hold up. (Posted on 7/20/12)
